1 to 3 day tours available – all tours can be adjusted to client’s needs to follow the footsteps or visit the grave of a relative.
1 day Somme/Arras Tour: Your tour will start from Arras (direct train from Paris or Lille). The morning will be dedicated to visiting the Northern Arras areas where would see the national Canadian Memorial on the Vimy Ridge. Here you will also be able to visit WW1 tunnel systems and trenches (be advised that this depends on Canadian DVA if there are any rare disruptions to visits. Should this happen, another option will be provided). Other sectors of interest in the area is Cabaret Rouge Cemetery where the unknown Canadian was taken back to Ottowa and the Largest German WW1 military cemetery in France.
Light lunch at an appropriate location and we head South to the Somme. Our first stop in the afternoon is Courcelette and ADANAC Cemetery where the Canadians sustained over 24, 000 men in casualty in the Battle of the Somme. Following through the afternoon we will visit the Newfoundland Memorial Park with its trenches and preserved battlefield and visit the massive Lochnagar Crater.
2 day tour: On this 2 day tour we will focus on the areas from the Somme including major Canadian sites such as Vimy Ridge and the Newfoundland memorial park to the Ypres Salient with the Brooding Soldier, Passchendaele and the location where John McCrae wrote his famous poem “In Flanders Fields”.
During both days you will have in depth information about both battlefronts which will also include other major sites such as visit to trenches and significant memorials, and vestiges. This tour includes museum visits.
3 day tour: On this 3 day tour we will focus on the areas from the Somme including major Canadian sites such as Courcelettes Canadian memorial and Newfoundland memorial park. To Arras with stops at Vimy Ridge and Wellington Quarry to the Ypres Salient with Essex farm Cemetery where John McCrae wrote the famous “In Flanders Fields” poem, Brooding soldier & Passchendaele.During these 3 days you will have in depth information about both battlefronts which will also include other major sites such as visit to trenches and significant memorials, and vestiges. This tour includes museum visits. 2nd day we stay in Ypres for the night where here you able to attend the Last Post played each night at 8pm since 1928 and have a opportunity to explore fully restored stunning town.
